Long-term operation of a groundwater pump-and-treat (P&T) system at the Frontier Fertilizer Superfund Site in Davis, California, involves a green remediation strategy focused on energy conservation measures, onsite generation of power from renewable resources and beneficial reuse options for the treated groundwater. The resulting environmental footprint reductions include a 100% offset of the P&T system's demand for grid-supplied electricity and an associated 147,500-pound reduction in carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

The supporting Spreadsheets for Environmental Footprint Analysis (SEFA) workbooks are available to help users estimate each of the methodology's metrics on a site-specific basis.
