State Coalition for Remediation of Drycleaners Site Profiles
Former Country Club Cleaners, Boca Raton, Florida
Description

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Drycleaning using PCE was performed at this site from January 1988 until March 1995. The facility is currently part of a storage area for a drug store. The contaminant source area is the soil beneath the building floor slab at the former location of the drycleaning machine. A drainage canal is located approximately 100 ft east of the site. The nearest water supply well is located approximately 2,200 ft east of the site. |

Lessons Learned
| 1. A vacuum truck is a viable method for limited excavation of contaminated soil under a building floor slab in areas where shallow water tables exist. Soil removal can be done in a relatively short amount of time with a minimum disruption to business activities, which is an important consideration when conducting remedial work at operating businesses. |
