Federal Facilities Online Academy: Groundwater Policy Overview, August 26, 2026, 1:00PM-3:00PM EDT (17:00-19:00 UTC). Groundwater Policy and Federal Facilities Overview is a two-hour webinar course that provides an overview of U.S. EPA groundwater policies and guidance with emphasis on cleanups at federal facilities. By taking this course, participants will achieve the following objectives: Identify EPA groundwater policies; Understand groundwater classification and beneficial use in restoration objectives; Understand nature and extent considerations from groundwater contaminant plumes; Explore applicable or relevant and appropriate requirements (ARARs) commonly associated with groundwater remedies; Identify groundwater considerations for monitored natural attenuation (MNA), institutional controls, and technical impracticability waivers; and, Discover information on major groundwater policies from other federal agencies, such as Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DoE). ITRC: Reuse of Solid Mining Waste, September 3, 2026, 1:00PM-3:00PM EDT (17:00-19:00 UTC). Solid mining waste represents a significant quantity of waste material in the United States and around the world. Solid mining waste has a range of physical and chemical properties that make it both potentially valuable and potentially hazardous to human health and the environment. From a commercial perspective, mining removes most of the primary minerals of interest; however, waste materials can still contain valuable minerals and other materials that can be recovered. The ITRC Reuse of Solid Mining Waste training and guidance document is geared towards state regulators and environmental consultants, mining and manufacturing stakeholders, community and tribal stakeholders, and other who have an interest in the potential reuse of solid mining waste. Treatment Technologies for Mining-Influenced Water: Review of Non-Peer-Reviewed Performance Data (EPA 600-R-25-190). EPA’s Office of Applied Science and Environmental Solutions (OASES) compiled this report to assist EPA’s Office of Land and Emergency Management and remedial project managers in determining what technologies may be appropriate at metal mining CERCLA sites. The full report and Appendix A: Treatability Study Performance Data and Other Key Information, including a searchable tool for case studies, are available at https://clu-in.org/products/miw.

CL:AIRE PFAS Site Profiles The profiles represent an understanding of PFAS uses and occurrences from specific industry sectors at the time of writing. They were developed the Environment Agency PFAS Risk Screening Project in 2020-2025. The PFAS Site Profiles are hosted on CL:AIRE’s PFAS webpage (which is a compilation of information relevant to the understanding and management of PFAS. US EPA and RAIS Screening Level Calculator Training for Chemical and Radionuclide Risk Analysis, September 14-17, 2026, Oak Ridge, TN. This training will primarily provide the participant with operational knowledge of key EPA and RAIS calculators. Additionally, the training and exercises will delve into the ability of the calculators to address site-specific exposures, unique toxicity assessments, and complex risk characterizations. In addition to classroom activities, tours are given of the Spallation Neutron Source facility, the High Flux Isotope Reactor, Frontier (ORNL's exascale supercomputer), and the Historic Graphite Reactor from the Manhattan Project. Call for Abstracts! Design and Construction Issues at Hazardous Waste Sites (DCHWS) - West Fall 2022 Symposium, Denver, CO, November 17-19, 2026. The applications of engineering and science associated with cleaning up hazardous waste sites continue to evolve rapidly. DCHWS aims to facilitate an interactive engagement between professionals from government and the private sector related to relevant and topical issues affecting their field. This will be a 2 -1/2 day event, sponsored by Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Denver Metro Post (DMP) and US EPA, providing the latest techniques and challenges when working at Hazardous Waste sites. Call for Abstracts! DoW Applied Innovation Workshop, November 30-December 4, 2026, Washington, D.C. The Department of War’s (DoW) Applied Innovation Workshop will bring together project teams, implementation partners, industry innovators, and students to enhance energy resilience, modernize infrastructure, and equip warfighters and installations with resources needed to fight and win in contested environments. Sessions and activities at the December event will continue to build on the momentum and outcomes from the March 2026 event.
